On 25 October around 6.25 UTC, TC OTIS (Cat. 5 Hurricane) made landfall over the area of the coastal City of Acapulco (central Guerrero State, southern Mexico) with maximum sustained winds of 270 km/h OTIS-23. OTIS-23 caused floods and landslides that resulted in evacuations and severe damage. As of 26 October, 34,522 evacuated families in 631 temporary shelters across the affected area according to WHO PAHO and national authorities. In the evening of 24 October 2023 local time, the Vanuatu archipelago was hit by the passage of a new tropical cyclone, named LOLA, with winds of up to 145 km/h. The cyclone has passed Solomon Island and will impact parts of Vanuatu. Due to extreme rainfall in the Thessaly Region, extended floods occurred in the Magnesia Regional Unit, mostly around the city of Volos and coastal areas of the Pelion mountain peninsula. Event Description:

A wildfire started in the afternoon of 18 July in a forest area of Rodos Island and is still ongoing. Residents of the villages of Eleousa, Salakanos and Dimilia were ordered to evacuate. According to the Hellenic Fire Service, 86 firefighters are currently operating in the area, assisted by 3 ground force groups, 28 vehicles, 3 water-bombing aircraft and 3 helicopters. Personnel and means of municipalities, regions, armed forces and groups of volunteers are assisting. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide an initial rough estimation, to support the monitoring and assessment of the extent of the wildfire and the damage caused.

Residents of the cities of Kalamaki, Isthmia, Paradissos, Kallithea Pefkia and Irini have been ordered to evacuate. According to the Hellenic Fire Brigade currently 120 firefighters with 43 fire engines, 4 earth crews, 9 Water bomber aircraft, 2 helicopters and municipal water tanks are engaged in response activities for this fire. Staff and assets from the municipalities, regions, armed forces and groups of volunteers have been mobilised. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide an initial rough estimation, in order to support the monitoring and assessment of the extent of the wildfire and the damage caused.
